• DISTINGUISHING FACTORS

This position is responsible for analyzing complex financial records and reports and is responsible for the Authority’s accounting operations. Incumbent is responsible for regulating and authenticating financial transactions, maintaining the ledger to ensure effectiveness and accuracy of all accounting tasks, balancing accounts, and confirming and verifying bank statements on behalf of the Authority. This position assists the Finance Director by preparing reports and assists with budget development and audit preparation. Must utilize Authority’s electronic ledger.

What You Will Be Doing

  1. Responsible for the maintenance and reconciliation of the general ledger accounts (includes loan accounts) and all subsidiary accounts (Accounts Payable, Payroll, Doorways, and others), and that all entries are correctly and timely posted.
  2. Coordinate closing of Doorways monthly process with the Housing Services staff after accounting reconciliation has been completed.
  3. Perform bank and investment reconciliations monthly.
  4. Reconciles and prepares monthly sales tax payments.
  5. Responsible for managing Program Income.
  6. Responsible for the preparation, accurate and timely submission of all financial statements, budgets and other fiscal reports.
  7. Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of all payroll records, issuance of payroll checks and submission of required quarterly and yearly tax reports.
  8. Responsible for collection issues, process, and review account adjustments, and resolving invoice discrepancies. They are responsible for reducing the delinquency for assigned accounts.
  9. Responsible for the maintenance of all personnel records and the record keeping of accrued and applied leave.
  10. Responsible for the maintenance of the accounting system and works closely with the Finance Director to design account code to ensure financial systems are established in a manner conducive to program and reporting needs.
  11. Prepares monthly financial statements and monthly budget to actual reports for distribution to appropriate staff for review and comment, including IHBG-IHP approved activities financial reports.
  12. Assists in the annual budgetary processes, provides technical data required by staff for budget creation and monitors the additions, deletions, and changes to the budget, including maintaining and updating approved budgets in the accounting system.
  13. Assists in the cost allocation
  14. Assists in the development of and enhancement of reports and reporting processes to better serve KIHA internal and external users.
  15. Assists in maintaining and updating financial procedures as needed.
  16. Assists in the audit preparation and coordinate project and program audits as required.
  17. Responsible for all of KIHA’s licensing requirements and compliance.
  18. Senior Accountant will be backup for the Procurement Officer and Accounting Specialist, if needed.
  19. Responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships with suppliers and vendors. Responsible for working professionally and effectively with internal and external partners, applicants, tenants, and participants; Responsible for providing respectful and timely customer service.
  20. Responsible for promoting a safe and drug free work environment.
  21. Responsible for other similar and related duties as assigned by Management.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • A minimum of five years accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting field preferred
  • Experience with reconciliations and audits preferred
  • Thorough understanding of financial data security
  • Required knowledge of Microsoft office suite
  • Prefer knowledge of Accufund software or equivalent accounting software
  • Must have or obtain a State of Alaska Driver’s License and meet KIHA’s vehicle liability insurance requirements.

Salary Range: 45 $59,958 -85,905
