KIHA is soliciting proposals from qualified and licensed electrical contractors to provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to replace the existing deteriorating meter base infrastructure at CW 1321 Selief Way, a 12-unit apartment complex. The project includes replacement of 12 individual meters, a house power meter, and a spare meter box.

Q&A

  • Will this require any wood / structure replacement behind the meters?
    • KIHA can have carpenter and materials on hand to replace any rot found behind the meters, we are expecting there will be.
  • Is the vacant CW 40:
      • directly behind the meters in case the wall needs to be cut open to access the wires
        • Yes, we expect the contractor will want access via unit 40.
      • ensured to stay empty for the duration of the project
        • Yes, unit 40 is being held vacant until the meters are replaced.
  • What is the outage timeline ideal? One day 8am – 9pm? Multiple days, but shorter duration?
    • One (long) day is strongly preferred.
  • Will this work also require moving anything telephone line related? Will we coordinate and sub-contract that if needed, or would we like them to bid that they can move that too
    • There could be a junction box mounted in the area, that would have to be taken down out of the way, and then remounted.
    • Don’t expect any tele/com would need to be relocated.
  • Right now there is 200A. Would KIHA like to take this opportunity to bump to 400A for potential need in the future?
    • None, current service is appropriately sized.
